REEIS relies on data from several sources to provide its reports. Important facts have been gathered about each of these source systems in order to assist you in determining whether the data will meet your information needs and to provide a context for understanding the most appropriate uses of the data.
The table below includes some important facts about the systems history, the data that is available in the system, the means by which the data is collected, and any special circumstances of conditions that affect the collection, processing, and reporting of that data.

Source System: Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)

EFNEP: Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program.
EFNEP is managed by USDA, the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA).
The main purpose of EFNEP is to assist limited resource audiences in acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and changed behavior necessary for nutritionally sound diets, and to contribute to their personal development and the improvement of the total family diet and nutritional well-being.
The Federal EFNEP has been in existence since 1969.
EFNEP targets two primary audiences: limited resource youth and limited resource families with young children.
The EFNEP Evaluation/Reporting System (ERS) was developed to capture the positive impacts of the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP).
The EFNEP System consists of separate software sub-systems: ERS Unit (County) level subsystem, SRS State level subsystem, and FRS Federal level subsystem
The EFNEP reporting system (ERS) is a database that stores information in the form of records about the program participants, their family structure and their dietary preferences.
ERS was originally introduced as a MS-DOS version in the Fall of 1993 and has been used in approximately 1,000 locations covering every state and the U.S. territories.
In 1998, the system was redesigned to operate under Microsoft Windows.
REEIS receives data from EFNEP by disk annually.
The REEIS office does not create or update the data.
The reporting period for EFNEP is October 1st - September 30.
Financial data is reported in U.S. dollars.
